Breaking Bad Actor RJ Mitte Dies at 34; Bryan Cranston Pays Tribute

RJ Mitte, who played Walter White Jr. on “Breaking Bad,” died Monday, October 12, at age 34, his representative confirmed. Bryan Cranston, who played his father on the series, remembered the actor’s growth and advocacy for performers with disabilities, ending a tribute with the words, “I’ll miss you, son.”

A costar remembers an unfinished lunch plan

Cranston wrote that he and Mitte had exchanged messages only weeks before his death while trying to arrange lunch. Looking back on their years together, Cranston recalled watching a young performer become a stronger actor and a public advocate.

Mitte appeared throughout the acclaimed AMC drama as Walter White Jr., also known as Flynn. He lived with cerebral palsy, a condition shared by his character, and later used his visibility to campaign for fuller representation of people with disabilities in entertainment.

His work continued well beyond the series

His credits included “Switched at Birth,” “The Guardians of Justice” and independent films. His representative highlighted work with United Cerebral Palsy, Shriners Children’s and the Mitte Foundation. In 2025, Mitte announced his engagement to Kennedy Suarez.

A publicist later confirmed reports that Mitte died by suicide. Earlier statements from his representative had not given a cause, and authorities had not released a final autopsy determination in the reporting reviewed for this edition. No circumstances or possible reasons for his death have been established here.
