Cara Delevingne, the British model, actress, and entrepreneur, spoke
about her sobriety journey in a February 2026 interview with People,
describing recovery not simply as a personal achievement but as a
fundamental shift in how she defines self-worth. "Today, she describes
sobriety not just as a milestone, but as a shift in perspective — one

Delevingne has been publicly sober since 2022, when paparazzi
photographs taken in Los Angeles served as a wake-up call that prompted
her to enter a 12-step program and seek help, according to The Sober

cover interview, describing the moment she recognized her relationship
with alcohol had become unsustainable.

The Turning Point

In the 2023 Vogue interview, Delevingne described the period leading to
her decision as one defined by escalating avoidance — using substances
to escape pressures she had not yet found tools to face directly.
"Before I was always into the quick fix of healing," she said,
explaining that she had tried various wellness retreats and short-term
interventions without finding lasting change. The 12-step program, she
said, was different because it addressed "the deeper stuff," per
Vogue.

"The opposite of addiction is connection," she told Vogue. "And I
really found that in 12-step." That framing — recovery as a
relational rather than purely individual process — has remained
consistent across her public discussion of the topic in the years since.

Sobriety as Self-Acceptance

At the L'Oréal Paris Women of Worth event, Delevingne connected her
sobriety to a broader conversation about female empowerment and
self-acceptance. Her message to others working through their own
recovery was direct: "You're not alone," she told People in 2024.
"If I can do it, anyone can."

The Sober Curator noted in a February 2026 profile that Delevingne's
public consistency on the topic — continuing to speak about recovery
across multiple interviews rather than treating it as a closed chapter
— reflects a deliberate choice to keep the conversation alive for
others who may be at the beginning of their own process. Her platform,
built across modeling and acting careers that placed her at the center
of fashion and entertainment industries for over a decade, has given her
sustained reach for that message.
