Dolly Parton’s nephew Bryan Seaver has been removed from his longtime role overseeing security at the late singer’s properties, creating a new point of conflict around the family estate less than a month after her death. TMZ reported that Seaver and his security companies were dismissed from multiple Parton properties and replaced by a new team.

The change reached several Dolly properties

According to TMZ, the termination covered security work at Parton’s main Nashville residence as well as her museum, downtown residence and warehouse. Page Six separately reported the removal and described Seaver as having held the security role for years as part of a family tradition.

The shift was immediate enough that replacement guards were seen arriving while Seaver’s team was being removed, according to the reports. That makes the dispute more concrete than a disagreement over future estate plans: access and control around the physical properties have already changed.

Seaver remains tied to the family trust

Page Six reported that losing the security role does not eliminate Seaver’s personal interest in Parton’s trust. The distinction matters because the disagreement now involves both his former job protecting the properties and his continuing place within the broader family estate structure.

The timing puts the family relationship at center

Parton died Aug. 25 at age 80 after a brief cancer battle, according to CBS News. Seaver, who had been her head of security, was also the family member who announced her death in a prerecorded video.

That history gives the firing a distinctly personal dimension. The person who helped protect Parton’s properties and publicly carried the first news of her death is now outside that security operation while still connected to the family trust. What happens next will depend on how the estate’s managers and family members resolve control of the singer’s properties and business interests.
