Dwayne Johnson's production company, Seven Bucks Productions, has
finalized a first-look television deal with 20th Television, a division
of Walt Disney Television, bringing the company fully under the Disney
umbrella across both film and TV, according to Deadline. The agreement
was co-announced by Johnson and his business partner Dany Garcia, who
co-founded Seven Bucks together.
The deal marks a significant expansion for Seven Bucks, which had
previously housed its television arm at Universal TV, where it produced
Young Rock, the semi-autobiographical comedy co-created and executive
produced by Johnson. The move to 20th Television places the company
alongside one of Disney's most active television studios.
What the Deal Covers
Under the agreement, Seven Bucks will develop and executive produce
comedy, drama, adult animation, limited series, and unscripted content
for both linear networks and streaming services, with a primary focus on
platforms within Disney Entertainment Television, according to Deadline.
The television deal builds directly on an existing film-side
partnership. Last year, Disney's film division signed a first-look deal
with Seven Bucks, with active projects including a live-action Moana
remake — in which Johnson reprises his role as Maui — and a
motorsports-themed film set in the Monster Jam universe, per Hot 97.
Leadership Response
20th Television president Karey Burke addressed the agreement in a
statement, describing Johnson as "arguably the biggest star on the
planet" and noting that his "charisma and natural charm elevate every
character and story Seven Bucks brings to the screen," according to Hot
97.
Johnson and Garcia, in a joint statement, said they were "excited to
expand that collaboration into television" and praised the creative
alignment with Dana Walden, Eric Schrier, Burke, and the broader 20th
Television team.
A Growing Media Footprint
The deal arrives as Johnson continues to build one of the most
diversified entertainment portfolios among active performers. Seven
Bucks has grown steadily from a production company centered on
Johnson's film projects into a multi-genre studio with television
ambitions across scripted and unscripted formats.
Moving to 20th Television positions Seven Bucks alongside established
Disney properties and distribution infrastructure, with access to both
broadcast and streaming audiences. The scope of that reach — from
linear network programming to Disney+ — reflects the full breadth of
what the new agreement makes possible.
