Nacogdoches Teen Extradited from Mexico in Connection with Triple Homicide

Jared Garcia, 18, of Nacogdoches, Texas, was arrested in the Mexican state of Tamaulipas on April 29, 2026, in connection with a triple homicide that occurred in Nacogdoches on October 24, 2025. Garcia has been charged with murder and grand jury indictments related to the deaths of Emilio Perez, 16; Dequavious LeCharles Brooks, 17; and Edward Alejandro Rivera, 18. Garcia is being held in the Hidalgo County Jail in Texas pending extradition to Nacogdoches County to face charges in the district court system.

The Shooting and Investigation

The October 24, 2025, shooting occurred on Hackberry Street in Nacogdoches, when gunfire erupted inside a vehicle with multiple occupants. Co-suspect Hector Cuarenta, 17, surrendered to authorities the day after the incident and is also facing murder charges in connection with the case.
