Navy Veteran Shot Dead in Bronx Road Rage Attack Had Dreamed of Working White House Security

By Cameron Hale. Jul 8, 2025

Keino Campbell, 27, a U.S. Navy veteran, was shot and killed in the Bronx in the early hours of June 14, 2025, in what police and family believe was a road rage attack. Campbell was shot three times in the chest near Givan and Palmer Avenues after a confrontation with another driver. He attempted to drive away but crashed a few blocks later. He was transported to Jacobi Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. Two days later, on June 16, police arrested 20-year-old Michael Aracena and charged him with murder, manslaughter, and criminal possession of a weapon. Aracena had not been convicted as of the time of reporting.

Who Was Keino Campbell?

Campbell served in the U.S. Navy from 2019 to 2022, stationed in San Diego. Family members described a young man driven by a determination to provide for his family and build a meaningful future. He had dreamed of working security at the White House - a goal rooted, his mother said, in a desire to lift his family out of poverty. “He had big dreams,” his mother told the New York Daily News. He also hoped to one day become a husband and father.

Campbell’s family had already buried three loved ones in as many months before his death. A GoFundMe organized by his aunt described him as humble, intelligent, kind, and deeply loved. His aunt wrote: “Keino will never be forgotten. His memory will live on in our hearts forever, and this loss will change our family forever.”
