Rebel Wilson Is Fighting a Court Filing That Quotes a $110,000 Text Message

The Filing

Producer Amanda Ghost filed papers in Los Angeles Superior Court on August 25 seeking access to Rebel Wilson’s financial records, part of the continuing litigation between them over the film The Deb. The filing quotes text messages Ghost alleges show a paid campaign to damage her reputation.

What the Filing Says

According to the document, a crisis publicist named Melissa Nathan sent a message on August 5, 2024, describing a package that included “satellite, ghost server, ghost hosting, full build, maintaining” at a price of $110,000 for three months. The filing states that Wilson replied asking whether the figure was “$110 in total,” and that Nathan answered: “110,000. Sorry! huge difference.”

Ghost alleges that Wilson’s public relations team used the arrangement to build websites targeting her. Those are allegations contained in a filing by one party to the case. No court has ruled on them.

Wilson’s Response

Wilson testified in a deposition that she did not recall sending the messages, and said directly: “I never paid for a website.”

Her attorney, Allyson Thompson, called Ghost’s filing “one-sided and thus incomplete,” and noted that Wilson has already prevailed in the first of three lawsuits arising from the dispute. That reference is to Wilson’s July 2026 win against The Deb star Charlotte MacInnes.

A judge has separately scaled back the scope of Ghost’s suit.

What The Deb Dispute Is About

The underlying conflict began around Wilson’s directorial debut and has produced parallel proceedings involving multiple parties, in which each side accuses the other of misconduct connected to the film’s production and its aftermath. The financial-records motion is a discovery fight inside that larger case, and discovery fights are where the most quotable documents tend to surface, because both sides are arguing about what the other side should be forced to hand over.

What Would Settle It

The specific question in front of the court is narrow and procedural, namely whether Wilson must produce financial records. The broader question the filing raises, which is whether the arrangement described in the messages was executed and paid for, is not before the court in this motion. Wilson’s denial and the quoted messages are both on the record, and nothing in the filing resolves the gap between them.
