Swiss Man Charged With Murder in Death of Former Miss Switzerland Finalist

On December 10, 2025, the Basel-Landschaft public prosecutor’s office formally charged a 43-year-old Swiss man with murder and disturbing the peace in the death of his wife, Kristina Joksimovic, 38, a former Miss Switzerland finalist and modeling coach. Some local media have referred to him as “Thomas,” though authorities have not officially confirmed his name. Prosecutors allege he strangled her and later dismembered her body in an effort to destroy and conceal evidence. The case is before the Basel-Landschaft Criminal Court; no trial date had been set as of reporting.

The Discovery

Kristina’s father made the initial discovery. He had spent hours at the family home before noticing a black bag in the laundry room, from which blonde hair was visible. Police were contacted immediately and the husband was arrested the following day. He initially claimed he had come home to find Kristina dead, but later admitted to killing her, describing it as self-defense during a confrontation. Forensic evidence and medical reports contradicted his account.

Autopsy findings described significant post-mortem mutilation, though prosecutors have not publicly discussed a motive. Police had previously been called to the couple’s home over domestic violence concerns prior to her death.

Kristina competed in the 2007 Miss Switzerland pageant and later built a career as a modeling coach, maintaining an active social media presence that documented her training sessions and client work. She and her husband had two children, who were in the home at the time of events. The case drew widespread attention in Switzerland and prompted renewed public discussion about domestic violence and the dangers that can exist behind closed doors.

The suspect remains in custody. It was unclear at the time of reporting whether he had entered a formal plea or retained legal representation.
