50th anniversary of sobriety on December 29, 2025 — two days before
his 88th birthday — sharing the milestone in a video posted to his
Instagram account and urging anyone struggling with addiction to seek

marked my turning point," Hopkins said in the video. "Without wanting

him to sobriety. In his memoir, We Did OK, Kid, he described driving all
night from Arizona to Beverly Hills with no memory of the journey,
writing that he "could have taken out a whole family," according to

that I was enjoying life too much. It was labeled alcoholism," he said.
