The Second Wedding That Took Three Days

Dua Lipa and actor Callum Turner celebrated their marriage with a three-day event in Palermo, Sicily, that ran through June 7. According to CNN, the couple had already married at Old Marylebone Town Hall in London - Lipa in a custom Schiaparelli skirt suit - before bringing hundreds of guests to Italy for the larger celebration.

The main event was held at Villa Valguarnera, an 18th-century palace in Palermo, CNN reported, with HELLO! placing the full cost of the celebration at around $1.7 million.

A Guest List That Read Like a Festival Bill

The celebration drew a roster of musicians and public figures. HELLO! reported that Charli XCX and her husband, The 1975’s George Daniel, were among attendees, alongside Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker, Mark Ronson and Grace Gummer, Donatella Versace, and Chris Stapleton, with Elton John reported to be performing.

CNN noted the festivities included a street party staged in a vintage bookstore setting, a nod to how the couple met while reading the same novel - a personal detail folded into a celebration otherwise built on spectacle.

When the City Becomes a Co-Host

What set this apart from a private celebrity wedding was its civic footprint. CNN, citing the JFC research institute, reported the Palermo celebrations were estimated to leave an economic impact of roughly 268 million euros on the city’s metro area - a figure that turns a personal milestone into a measurable event for the region hosting it.

That scale reframes the weekend. A pop star’s wedding became, in effect, a tourism driver for a Sicilian city, a reminder that for a certain tier of celebrity, private milestones rarely stay private.

What the Spectacle Leaves Behind

The London ceremony was the legal marriage; the Sicilian weekend was the staging. The split between the two - a civil signing followed by a palace-scale celebration - captures how public figures now separate the personal act from its presentation.
