Florida Woman Who Stole Ashley Biden's Diary and Sold It to Project Veritas

In April 2024, Aimee Harris, a Florida resident, was sentenced to one month in jail, three years of probation, and ordered to repay $20,000 after pleading guilty to federal charges related to the theft and sale of Ashley Biden’s diary. In the spring of 2020, Harris moved into a room at a home in Delray Beach, Florida - the same room where Ashley Biden, daughter of then-former Vice President Joe Biden, had been staying and had left behind personal belongings, including her diary. Harris found the items and, along with Robert Kurlander, arranged to sell them.

How the Diary Was Sold

Harris and Kurlander first attempted to sell the diary to Donald Trump’s 2020 presidential campaign, which declined. They then turned to Project Veritas, a conservative organization, and received $40,000 for the diary. Court documents showed Project Veritas paid for Harris and Kurlander’s airfare, hotel, and car service to transport the stolen items from Florida to New York City. At Project Veritas’ request, Harris later returned to the Florida home to retrieve additional belongings, which a Project Veritas employee then had shipped to New York. Although Project Veritas did not publish the contents, the right-wing outlet The National File released what it claimed was a full copy of the diary just before the 2020 presidential election.

Kurlander’s Sentence

Kurlander also pleaded guilty to federal charges in connection with the theft and sale. His sentencing was scheduled for October 25, 2024. Both individuals faced federal prosecution for conspiracy to transport stolen property.
